Saturday 11th October
Sunday is traditionally a day of rest. But not for me today. Having had our downpour yesterday and the tiniest extra bit of breeze, today is the first time in over a week I don't feel like the heat has sapped every ounce of energy from me. So I've knuckled down to catching up on my web-blogs, (in the vain hope that at least 3 people are reading them!) and now that we've started moving have turned my mind to the Equator and the fact that, as part of the crossing ceremony we're all expected to don fancy dress! Chloe is getting everyone organised and has nominated a costume for each person. Most are either pirates, fish or sea creatures of some description or other fairy tale type characters with Pirate overtones! I like to be different so am resolved to come up with my own idea and have been pondering all day. Finally – as I was catching up on last weeks blog – a lot of which was obviously about spinnaker repairs (!), it came to me in a flash – 'ZAP' I had it – I would be that famous Nautical, Red-knicker clad and cape-waving Superhero, 'Super Sail Repair Girl'. This would be perfect! I have previous experience as a Superhero as during my sixth form years as a weekend breakfast waitress, at the local Trust House Forte Hotel, I had been 'Trolley Girl Wonder' – side-kick to my partner in crime Simon Goss – otherwise known as “Jam Man”. I therefore considered myself well qualified to step up to the role of the pin-sporting, keeper of the magic 'Dacron' and expert harness-er of 'the Mighty Power of the Bobbin'!
Hmmm... think I spent too long in the sun today...
