10 Things that qualify me (in my mind) to take part in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race:
1. I read Swallows and Amazons when I was young (time to live the dream)
2. I had a near fatal attraction to water from a very early age (may as well give in to it)
3. I did in fact nearly drown when I was about 3 (...actually I'm not sure that counts)
4. At age 6 ish I had a small inflatable yacht (rubber duck sized) that I used to float down the stream in those lovely gardens (can't remember the name) while on holiday in Bournemouth (experienced yachtswoman obviously)
5. I've always been good at Pooh sticks (tactical - now surely that Must count)
6. I couldn't swim until I was about 12...(ummm)
7. ...but I could swim a length underwater way before then (very handy in capsize circumstances)
8. I always want to know what's over the horizon (motive)
9. I like doing things that scare the living daylights out of myself (stupid)
10. On a rough ferry crossing with a school trip, I ran around happily getting sick bags for everyone else (strong constitution & team player)
