My late Dad was a huge supporter of The World Land Trust - particularly in it's early days of starting out. Dad's passion was always for Wildlife and the conservation of 'Life on Earth' - indeed he was Producer of the television series of the same name. His life was dedicated to bringing the wonders of the natural world to the screen - both big and small - so that everyone could enjoy them from the comfort of their armchairs. With that also came a sense of responsibility for making people aware of just how fragile some of those habitats are - and how we are in danger of losing them and the creatures that live there.
The World Land Trust (WLT) is an international conservation organisation whose main aim is to save rainforest and other wildlife habitats. It works with partner organisations, providing funds so that they can purchase land and establish permanent wildlife reserves. It has helped purchase and protect over 375,000 acres of habitats rich in wildlife, in Asia, Central and South America and the UK.
Shortly after Dad died, Sir David Attenborough launched an appeal to raise funds for the Christopher Parsons Reserve. This an an area of land in Ecuador adjacent to the Tapichalaca Reserve, and is part of a group of reserves set aside to preserve the rainforest and huge diversity of species that inhabit that area - many of which are globally endangered.
All funds raised through donations on my WLTJust Giving site will go towards expanding that area of rainforest - for future generations to learn about and enjoy.
